Duties & Requirements

  • Provide supervision of students to ensure the safe and secure transportation of students.
  • Willing and able to be nurturing, firm, and consistent.
  • Provide positive feedback when students are behaving appropriately.
  • Possess the ability to work closely with and under the direction of the bus driver.
  • Possess the ability to anticipate driver and/or student needs, and work independently in meeting those needs.
  • Provide support and direction to students with behaviors interfering with the safe transportation of students.
  • Provide support and direction to students with behaviors interfering with the safe transportation of students.
  • Redirect student when necessary to keep him/her on task.
  • Display a level of confidence and authority to students.
  • Display professional behavior at all times.
  • Must possess flexibility in assignment, changing gears at a moment’s notice.
  • Ability to handle conflict.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements:

 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:

  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors; inclement weather at times
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Mandatory Conditions of Employment

  • High School diploma, or equivalent, and
  • Have one of the following:
    1. An AA Degree from an accredited academic college or university
    2. A minimum of 72 college quarter credits
    3. Have passed a district-recognized assessment of basic skills and instructional proficiency (currently the ETS test)
  • Training in use of behavior management preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team.
  • Previous successful work with children with behavioral challenges preferred
  • Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check
  • Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance
  • Completion of federal I-9 form
