Description | Duties & Qualifications:
- Primary teaching assignment – 7th Grade ELA.
- Possess (or qualify for immediate issuance) a valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s).
- Experience working with middle school students preferred.
- Understanding and knowledge of middle school aged students.
- Plan, implement and evaluate classroom instructional activities consistent with building and adopted district curriculum.
- Diagnose and prescribe learning and training programs for individual pupils based on student aptitude and interest.
- Provide for individual needs of assigned students.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to provide equity and excellence to students of all ability levels
- Knowledge of and ability to implement the applicable academic standards.
- Ability to foster an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation process of assigned students. Be able to plan an instructional program designed to meet individual student needs and whole groups which may include at-risk or special needs students.
- Experience with numerous assessment tools, and the ability to use data to drive instruction. Assess and evaluate students regularly using appropriate methods and instruments and keeping appropriate and accurate records of such assessments.
- Use necessary and appropriate instructional methods, techniques, and materials.
- Comply with all state and federal laws regarding the instruction and supervision of children by certificated employees.
- Maintain a professional manner and decorum in the classroom, in the school, and throughout the working day.
- Meet with parents for parent/teacher conferences and as necessary to maintain achievement and student discipline.
- Display a commitment to the education profession as evidenced by participation in curriculum development projects, district or building-level committees, and professional organizations and by evidence of continuing education.
- Ability to work in partnership with parents, staff, students, and the community to provide student-centered learning. Strong skills in teamwork required.
- Ability to incorporate technology into the curriculum. Computer/technology experience and competence preferred.
- Experience working with other staff members to accomplish common goals and to develop appropriate instructional strategies.
- Confer and communicate with students, parents or guardians, and other staff, in an open and positive manner to provide guidance, evaluation and encouragement of student achievement.
- Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities preferred.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all students.
- Excellent attendance required.
