BUS DRIVER Duties:
- Operate school bus in all types of weather conditions including but not limited to fog, rain, hail, sleet, snow and ice.
- Operate on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips, in support of district approved activities, both in and out of school district boundaries.
- Inspect and clean school buses and related equipment as required by state and district policy.
- Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety. Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of any person other than the driver.
- Complete forms, records and reports as required by the state or local school district policies.
- Successfully complete school bus driver training programs and courses established by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction or the school district.
- Operate a school bus in accordance with the laws of the state of Washington and policies published by the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
- Operate and service all school bus equipment and accessories including, but not limited to, fire extinguishers, highway warning kits, snow chains, sanders, first aid kits, etc.
- Perform required operational and safety inspections of the school bus and all related equipment.
- Clean and service school bus including interior/exterior sweeping, washing, fueling, and other non mechanical servicing tasks on an as needed basis.
- In emergency situations, perform basic first aid as appropriate, which may include CPR.
- Legibly and accurately complete forms, records, time sheets, trip requests, route studies, trouble reports, misconduct reports, accident reports and other clerical type activities as may be required.
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the
- completion of their work activities
- Perform split shifts and varied hours depending on route
CUSTODIAN Duties:
- Use power equipment and hand tools such as broom, mop, squeegee, buffer, polisher, and vacuum required for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, making minor repairs to building and equipment.
- Clean and sanitize toilets and fixtures, etc.
- Empty wastebaskets, trash containers; clean chalkboards, chalk trays and erasers; dust furniture; sweep, mop and polish floors; clean door mats.
- Set up and remove furniture required for special events.
- Replace light bulbs, tissue and other restroom supplies; may issue linen and bedding.
- Close building each evening; help maintain building security when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows and unauthorized occupants.
- Wash windows and mirrors.
- Clean sidewalks and driveways; rake leaves, mow grass and help maintain campus grounds, snow removal, etc.
- Read and interpret written instructions, service orders and labels on chemicals and supplies.
- Perform other duties as required by individual building principal.
- Ability to maintain sprinkler/irrigation system.
- Ability to paint and perform small repairs.
- Work with evening groups utilizing the facility.
- Flexible, use initiative, self-starter, positive attitude, team player.
- Available for day shift during school year and during summer months.

Professional Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Must possess a valid WashingtonState driver’s license.
- Prior custodial experience required.
- Knowledge of efficient custodial practices, which includes care and use of equipment; cleaning, minor maintenance and care of grounds.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of efficiency and attention to detail; must be a self-starter.
- Must be able to work well with children.
- Knowledge of the principles of heating, ventilation, sanitation and care of school buildings.
- Knowledge of inventorying, ordering and storing all types of supplies.
- Knowledge of floor refinishing and carpet care.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to use a computer to complete work requests and other work related functions.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships that foster efficiently and productivity and promotes cooperation with administrators, fellow employees, students, faculty and the public.
- Must maintain neat, clean personal appearance.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality a must.
Professional Qualifications:
- Minimum age 21.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Posses a valid Washington State School Bus Driver's certificate.
- Possess a valid Washington state driver's license with the appropriate endorsement.
- Meet the physical and mental standards necessary to perform the duties, tasks and responsibilities of a school bus driver as described in this job description.
- Possess a current first aid card.
- Minimum of two years driving experience.
- Subject to drug and alcohol screening test as a condition of employment and annual random testing.
- Excellent attendance required.
Physical Requirements:
- The position requires frequent sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, walking, and crouching; ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Exposure to gas and diesel fumes.
- Physical requirements as laid out by the DOT
Mandatory Conditions of Employment:
- Per Federal Highway Administration requirements, drug and alcohol screening is a part of the job requirements.
- EastmontSchool District application process for drivers required to possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as part of their job responsibilities. Satisfactory completion of such tests is a condition of employment for regular and substitute drivers. Both regular and substitute drivers will be subject to annual random screening.
- Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check
- Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance
- Completion of federal I-9 form
